Dr. Manthei is a native of Germany. After graduating from the German Air Force Academy he served six years in the NATO Air Defense System. Thereafter he earned his M.D. and Ph.D. on a scholarship of the German National Scholarship Foundation (GNSF). After an internship and one year of pediatric residency in Germany he won a GNSF post-doctoral fellowship in Immunology at the University of Arizona. This was followed by a residency in Pediatrics in Tucson and a three-year fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at the National Jewish Hospital and Research Center in Denver, CO. For five years he served on the faculty of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. The move back to his beloved Southwest allowed him to practice Allergy and Immunology at Thomas-Davis Medical Centers and Alvernon Allergy & Asthma P.C. From 1989 to 2007 he held teaching positions at the University of Arizona, last as Clinical Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Manthei is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. He is not accepting new patients.
